Joanette’s career began in the financial sector, where she excelled as a Certified Financial Planner and Real Estate Investor. But her passion extends far beyond dollars and cents—she is deeply dedicated to equipping individuals with lifelong financial literacy, particularly children and youth in underserved communities. Through financial education programs delivered in partnership with non-profit organizations, Joanette empowers participants with tools and knowledge to break cycles of poverty and create sustainable futures.
However, Joanette’s advocacy does not stop at financial empowerment. Since 2010, she has engaged in groundbreaking research and outreach on critical social issues such as community gun violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and cyber security. Combining academic rigor with frontline experience, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to these topics, helping communities develop holistic and effective responses.

Currently, she is completing a Ph.D. in Ethical Leadership with a specialization in Criminal Justice.
